It's been a long, long time since I approached it "fresh", so it's fun seeing a lot of things that I take for granted approached with a new light.

Some tips:

1. Defeating the Ilwrath vessel with only your Earthling Cruiser is possible. Earthling Cruisers have homing missiles that are semi-accurate, so if you point your Cruiser in the direction of the Ilwrath, you should be able to get two clean hits, which will kill him.
2. Moving in the star systems burns no fuel. Moving between star systems does burn fuel, as does landing on planets.
3. Make sure you always have a spare lander.
4. There's a Melee Mode in UQM that is great for practicing ship-to-ship combat. I highly recommend it, and it's a fun way to kill some time.
5. There's an entire site dedicated to Star Control 2 strategy (the game that UQM changed the title on). You can find it here.

Good luck!David Colbornehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00559189787607852538noreply@blogger.com
